What is the Gospel?

Stated simply, the Gospel can be summarized as God ... Man ... Christ ... Response.  Read the following outline to get to the heart of the Good News from a biblical perspective.  Jesus said, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink" (John 7:37).  So then, come and receive from Jesus, the only one who gives living water, and never thirst again!

I. God

Creator - Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."

Loving - 1 John 4:16 "God is love."

Holy - 1 John 1:5 "God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all." Habakkuk 1:13 "Your eyes are too pure to look on evil, you cannot tolerate wrong."

II. Man

All have sinned, relationship with God broken - Romans 3:23 "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

III. Christ

Fully God - John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word (Jesus Christ) and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Fully human - John 1:14 "The Word (Jesus Christ) became flesh and lived among us."

Christ’s WORK: sinless & miraculous life, atoning death, powerful resurrection

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, he was buried, he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures."

SIGNIFICANCE: atoning sacrifice for eternal life…THE ONLY WAY TO GOD

1 Peter 3:18 "For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God."

John 14:6 "I am the way and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except by me."

IV. Response

Call on the name of the Lord - Romans 10:13 "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Eternal life - John 3:16 "God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
