By God’s kindness, I was raised in a Christian home where the truth of God was regularly taught by my parents to my brother and me. I also had the privilege of attending a Christian school and a doctrinally-sound church for all of my youth, and although I enjoyed learning about spiritual things, it wasn’t until I was thirteen years old that I was confronted with the fact that, on my own and apart from God, I was nothing more than a hypocrite who had a head full of Bible knowledge but a heart that was devoid of true righteousness. It was impressed upon me that if I were to die, I would hear the frightening words of our Lord in Matthew 7:23: “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.” It was at this time I cried out to the Lord, asking Him to forgive and save me.
Throughout high school and college, I began to see evidences of true spiritual appetite and growth, and after college the Lord brought me through an intense time of testing in which my faith was stretched and challenged. By His kindness, I came through this period with a increasingly mature trust in Christ and devotion to Him.
Not long after this, I began serving heavily in youth ministry in my local church and the Lord cultivated in me a heart to see young people come to know Him early and to grow in their faith while still young. My passion is to see young people “remember their Creator in the days of their youth” (Ecclesiastes 12:1).
Around this same time, I married my girlfriend, Anna. She is my best friend and I am so privileged to spend my life with her. The Lord has blessed us with five wonderful kids, Elijah, Abigail, Josiah, Caleb, and Benjamin.
The Lord allowed me to attend seminary at The Master’s Seminary in Los Angeles from 2011 to 2017. Near the end of our time at seminary, God made it clear that He was leading us away from California to Hutchinson, Kansas, where we are now privileged to serve the people of Grace Bible Church. We are so thankful to be at GBC and we are excited for what the Lord has in store for us in the future!
